I think that once you understand what a "layer" is (one image, transparent or otherwise, in front of your base picture), you can pretty much tinker and explore all the tools and filters to your heart's content. Do you have any specific questions?
Of course I know what layers is, I have work a lot with Photoshop and some other programs.
I was more wondering how to use the tools in Illustrator, and I can't find any help file to - it's pretty weird I know.
This is the first time for me to use Illustrator and I need more information "how to use" the tools- for an example, The Piant Tools, such as Brush, The Pen and so on. And of course all the other cool stuff.
Anyway, maybe I have a specific question at all: Do I have to scan in my picture before I begin to Paint/Draw in Illustrator? Or can I start to Draw/Paint direct in a new Document, huh?
Have a nice day, friend, and thanks for all your help!!!

Illustrator? *palmface* Dang, I'm sorry! I thought you were talking about Photoshop. I don't use Illustrator. I have it, but it was rather frustating for me, and I think it's primarily used for vector art anyhow.
However, if you search DA for some vector art, you may be able to ask one of those artists your Illustrator questions.
